Armscor eyes new Luzon site for expansion

Local firearms and ammunition maker Armscor Global Defense Inc. is scouting locations across Luzon to expand its manufacturing operations, as its 7-hectare facility in Marikina has run out of space.

President and CEO Gina Angangco said an earlier plan to expand in Baras, Rizal is no longer viable due to growing residential areas there. The current plant uses automated lines to produce up to 250,000 firearms and 560 million rounds yearly.

The firm is taking a cautious approach amid global conflicts, supply chain issues, and raw material shortages. It also pushes for greater local self-reliance in defense manufacturing.

Following a tough 2025—when tariffs and a gun ban led to 500 layoffs—the company has rehired most workers, bringing its workforce back to around 1,000. Exports are recovering, and it recently received the Tatak Pinoy seal, which gives it government support and preference in local procurement.
