The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is asking for an estimated P2.7 billion budget for next year to sustain and further develop the government’s e-Government initiatives, including upgrades to cloud infrastructure, stronger cybersecurity, better system integration, and continued work on the eGov Super App.
DICT undersecretary for e-Government David Almirol Jr. confirmed the funding request on the sidelines of the ongoing eGov Hackathons in Taguig City, noting it comes with stronger backing under the newly signed eGov Law. He added that the Office of the President has reviewed the agency’s priorities and expressed full support for the program. The new law grants the eGov initiative its own dedicated operating budget and allows the DICT to access the National Telecommunications Commission’s Spectrum Fund, which was previously reserved only for the government’s Free Wi-Fi project, helping secure long-term financial stability for digital platforms.
Around P800 million of the proposed amount will go specifically to advancing the eGov Super App, officially called eGovPH. This single gateway lets Filipinos access services from both national and local government bodies. Almirol explained that the app and 28 related digital platforms were built entirely by DICT’s own team without external contractors, but rising demand means internal staff can no longer manage all development and upkeep alone. The agency now plans to partner with local tech firms and developers, including those taking part in the hackathon, to help maintain and improve these systems.
Latest figures show eGovPH has reached 61 million downloads and processed over 900 million transactions, linking 1,332 government services across 95 modules covering health, education, employment, travel, finance, social aid, digital identity, and more. The supporting eGov Data Exchange Platform, or eGovDX, has handled more than 950 million transactions as of June 2026. More than 92 million Digital National IDs have been issued, supporting over 300 million identity verifications through the eVerify system, while the eGovAI tool has recorded over 200 million transactions and 10 million users with features like translation, document processing, and legal guidance.
The two-day hackathon at SMX Convention Center Aura runs until July 22 under the theme “Collaborative Solutions for a Better Philippines.” It brings together developers, students, tech experts, and government officials to build practical tools that cut red tape, boost inter-agency coordination, and deliver faster, more inclusive public services.
