Berde lands major solar, battery supply partnership deal

Berde Renewables has secured a major clean energy supply agreement that will strengthen its renewable energy pipeline in the Philippines and Thailand, signing a three-year partnership for 200 megawatts (MW) of solar inverters and 500 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery energy storage systems.

The agreement with Sungrow Power and regional distributor Solar Hive ranks among Berde’s biggest technology procurement commitments and reflects the rising importance of battery storage as businesses seek more reliable and flexible renewable energy solutions.

Backed by global infrastructure investor I Squared Capital, Berde said the partnership will allow it to accelerate project delivery while expanding clean energy offerings for commercial and industrial customers across Southeast Asia.

“This partnership gives Berde the scale, technology, and regional support to deliver clean energy solutions with greater speed and confidence across the Philippines and Thailand,” Berde Renewables Chief Executive Officer Patrick Zhu said.

He added that combining 200 MW of solar capacity with 500 MWh of battery storage marks a significant milestone, particularly in the Philippines where businesses are increasingly looking for energy systems that can reduce electricity costs while improving power reliability.

Under the agreement, Berde will deploy Sungrow’s solar inverters, battery storage systems, electric vehicle charging solutions and smart energy technologies. Solar Hive will provide logistics, technical support, spare parts and after-sales services to support projects in both markets.

Beyond equipment supply, the companies will work together on technical training, certification programs, market development initiatives, stakeholder engagement and potential co-investment opportunities.

The expanded supply chain is expected to shorten project implementation timelines, giving Berde greater flexibility to meet growing customer demand for renewable energy.

The partnership also strengthens Berde’s power purchase agreement portfolio, allowing businesses to install solar systems paired with battery storage without significant upfront capital investment.

As renewable energy adoption accelerates across Southeast Asia, battery storage is becoming increasingly critical to balancing electricity supply and demand. By enabling excess solar power to be stored and used during peak periods, the systems improve grid stability, enhance energy resilience and help businesses maximize the value of clean energy investments.
