The Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY) will hold its major fundraising concert titled “Music for a Regenerative Future” on August 16, 2026, at the Proscenium at Rockwell in Makati City. Led by Maestro Gerard Salonga, the performance goes beyond showcasing musical talent as it celebrates nature, sustainability, and the collective duty to care for the environment.
The carefully selected program draws inspiration from the natural world, opening with Antonino Buenaventura’s By the Hillside, a piece that paints a vivid picture of the Philippine countryside. This is followed by Takashi Yoshimatsu’s contemplative work And Birds Are Still, which reflects on the resilience of nature through melodies inspired by birdsong. Sixteen-year-old Filipino pianist Daniel Asis takes the stage as featured soloist for George Gershwin’s iconic Rhapsody in Blue, bringing fresh energy to the beloved classic that blends classical and jazz styles. The evening closes with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 “Pastoral”, a long-admired composition that honors the peace, beauty, and healing power of nature.
Ticket prices are set at P2,000 for Orchestra Center seats, P1,000 for Orchestra Sides, and P500 for the Dress Circle section, with all purchases available via https://www.ticket2me.net/event/23008. Every ticket sold will directly support OFY’s scholarship and music education initiatives.
Founded by Ang Misyon, Inc. in 2012, the OFY provides intensive orchestral training, mentorship, and performance opportunities for gifted young musicians from less privileged backgrounds. Having supported over 1,100 scholars to date, the organization helps these young artists build not just technical skill, but also discipline, teamwork, resilience, and cultural pride. Proceeds from this concert will cover essential needs for scholars including weekly lessons, training costs, meals during rehearsals, and transportation allowances. The event also extends an invitation to corporations, foundations, and the public to partner with the group, advancing both artistic development and the shared goal of building a sustainable future.
