The newly rehabilitated Sual fish port is set to strengthen Northern Luzon’s fisheries value chain, the Department of Agriculture (DA) announced Thursday.
Modern upgrades include extended docks, cold storage, freezers, ice makers, processing areas and solar power. These will cut post-harvest losses, speed up distribution and serve as a key hub for catch from Lingayen Gulf, the West Philippine Sea and Ilocos.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said the project supports fisherfolk incomes and national food security. It will also benefit Pangasinan’s fisheries sector and bring more jobs and business growth to the region.
