GAC Philippines expands MPV lineup with hybrid models

GAC Philippines is stepping up its push in the country’s growing multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) market with the launch of three new models, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants aimed at families, premium buyers and corporate executives.

The expanded lineup includes the all-new GN6, the E8 HEV and the flagship GN8 PHEV Executive, broadening the Chinese automaker’s offerings as demand rises for spacious vehicles with improved fuel efficiency and electrified powertrains.

“The official launch of the GAC MPV Family marks an important milestone in the continued growth of GAC Philippines,” said Calvin Cheng, general manager of GAC Philippines. “With three distinct models, we are bringing Filipino customers a complete MPV lineup that can serve their changing needs, from flexible daily transit to premium travel and executive mobility.”

The launch reflects the broader shift in the Philippine automotive market, where more manufacturers are introducing hybrid models ahead of full electrification as consumers seek lower fuel costs without sacrificing driving range.

The entry-level GN6 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and targets young and growing families with flexible seating and cargo configurations. The E8 HEV pairs a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor, offering a driving range of more than 1,000 kilometers along with premium second-row comfort features.

Leading the lineup is the seven-seat GN8 PHEV Executive, which combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor to produce 373 horsepower and up to 120 kilometers of all-electric driving range, positioning it for executive transport and luxury family travel.

“Our MPVs are engineered around the people who use them, taking into account their comfort, safety and changing needs,” said Masato Katsumata, chief technology officer of GAC International.

GAC said its global MPV business has delivered more than 880,000 vehicles and now serves over 4.7 million owners worldwide. In the Philippines, the company supports its expanding portfolio through a network of 30 dealerships, with introductory prices for the new models available until Aug. 31, 2026.
