Megaworld realigns key officers as longtime executive retires

Megaworld Corp., the listed property venture of billionaire Andrew Tan, has reshuffled the responsibilities of several senior executives, tightening the division of finance, audit and compliance functions as longtime executive Maria Victoria M. Acosta retires.

The property developer’s board approved the changes at its Aug. 7 meeting, naming Francisco C. Canuto as chief finance officer and chief audit executive, Giovanni C. Ng as treasurer and finance director, and Atty. Maria Carla T. Uykim as head of the Corporate Advisory and Compliance Division, compliance officer and corporate information officer.

Canuto previously served as senior vice president, chief finance officer, treasurer, chief audit executive, compliance officer and corporate information officer. He holds 369,054 Megaworld shares, according to the disclosure.

Ng, previously senior vice president and finance director, will now take on the additional role of treasurer.

Uykim retains her post as head of the Corporate Advisory and Compliance Division while assuming the compliance officer and corporate information officer functions.

The changes effectively separate key finance and governance responsibilities previously held by Canuto, while giving Ng a broader treasury role and consolidating corporate compliance and information functions under Uykim.

The board also noted the retirement of Acosta as executive vice president and managing director for international marketing, effective Aug. 7.

The disclosure did not provide further details on Acosta’s successor or the company’s plans for its international marketing function.
