Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) has received two passenger experience recognitions from Airports Council International (ACI), including a second consecutive award in the 5–15 million passenger category.
MCIA was named among the Best Airports in Asia-Pacific at the ACI Airport Experience Summit 2026 in Istanbul, Türkiye. The award marks the second straight year the airport has received an ACI Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Customer Experience Award since Aboitiz InfraCapital Airports took over operations in 2024.
MCIA also advanced to Level 3 of ACI’s Airport Customer Experience Accreditation from Level 2, becoming the first Philippine airport to reach that level, according to AIC Airports.
The ASQ awards are based on standardized passenger surveys covering more than 50 airport touchpoints, while the accreditation measures how airports manage and improve customer experience.
AIC Vice President and Head of Airports Rafael M. Aboitiz said the recognitions reflected improvements made in infrastructure, technology, operations, and passenger services.
“The investments and improvements at the airport are ultimately about creating better experiences for the public, strengthening connectivity, and helping Cebu and the Philippines capture more opportunities in tourism, trade, and investment,” Aboitiz said.
AIC Airports CEO Athanasios Titonis said the practices developed at MCIA would also be applied across the company’s other airports, including Bohol-Panglao International Airport and Laguindingan International Airport.
The back-to-back ASQ awards and Level 3 accreditation give MCIA two external measures of its passenger experience, following AIC Airports’ assumption of operations in 2024.
