Cebu Pacific is cutting processing times across legal, engineering and project management functions as its artificial intelligence initiative with Thinking Machines Data Science and OpenAI delivers measurable productivity gains across the airline.
The airline said AI has reduced average legal contract review time by roughly half, from 2.5 hours to 1.2 hours. Project intake and triage turnaround has fallen from five days to about one day, while manual review effort for the process has declined by around 80 percent.
Engineering teams have recorded an even sharper improvement. Reference searches that previously took 10 to 15 minutes can now be completed in under 10 seconds, significantly reducing time spent on manual information retrieval.
Cebu Pacific worked with Thinking Machines Data Science, an OpenAI Advanced and Services Partner in Asia-Pacific, to identify high-value workflows and deploy ChatGPT Enterprise across the business.
The program brought business teams and leaders together to test AI applications under actual operating conditions. Governance and evaluation requirements were also applied based on the risks associated with individual workflows, allowing the airline to assess potential uses of AI within defined operational controls.
Following the rollout, 86 percent of surveyed users said AI now supports more than one-third of their daily work, highlighting the technology’s growing role in routine business processes.
“AI helps Cebu Pacific work smarter by taking friction out of everyday processes, reducing manual work, speeding up processes, and enabling our teams to make better decisions,” Cebu Pacific chief digital and technology officer Fabricio Ibáñez said.
Cebu Pacific is now moving into the next stage of its AI strategy by expanding ChatGPT-enabled workflows and developing solutions using OpenAI APIs.
The airline also plans to pursue agentic AI applications connected to enterprise data and systems, with the aim of further improving operational efficiency and customer experience as it expands the use of AI across its operations.
