Online attention on prescriptions has grown—alongside risks of unlicensed compounded medicines and confusion about what they are.
Compounded medicines are custom-made for individual patients, only by doctor’s prescription. They serve when standard medicines don’t fit: adjusted strength/form for children or elders, or allergen-free formulations. Patients do not choose these on their own.
