The GSIS is expanding benefits for retired public workers this National Pensioners’ Week, with the new Ginhawa Solar Energy Loan (GSEL) launching September 30.
Proclamation No. 1020 sets the second week of September annually to honor pensioners. GSIS chief Wick Veloso said recognition means concrete support — more benefits, choices, and easier access.
Funeral aid rose to ₱50,000 for claims from July 13, 2026. Survivorship pension now has no cap; cohabitation no longer stops payments. More pensioners qualify for the Christmas Cash Gift. Balik Ginhawa refunds run through Oct. 31, with nearly ₱20 billion already returned.
GSEL offers up to ₱500,000 at 5% interest over five years, no service fee, for home solar systems. Insurance, rent-to-own housing, and digital services via GSIS Touch add further support.
“Pensioners get more than monthly pay — we keep widening help after their years of service,” Veloso said.
