Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has expanded its nationwide child online safety and data privacy campaign, launching its award-winning Project PIGLET in Cebu and bringing critical cyber-literacy education to the Visayas region.
Short for Privacy Integration through Guided Learning of Emerging Technologies, the program reached third and fifth-grade students at STEC-STES in Lapu-Lapu City through interactive, space-themed sessions featuring “The Adventures of Captain Conrad and the Astro Kids.” Lessons tailored for ages seven and up covered spotting online scams, preventing identity theft, steering clear of harmful interactions, and recognizing dangerous content.
“With risks online, we must teach vigilance early — the internet offers endless learning, but only if children can use it safely,” said Converge AVP Eumir Paolo Espiritu. SVP and Data Protection Officer Atty. Laurice Esteban-Tuason added that network safeguards alone are not enough: everyone must help make the internet safe for all.
Converge also donated learning tablets to STEC-STES to boost the school’s digital tools. Principal Susana Amora thanked the company, noting that as schools digitize, teaching responsible use matters more than ever. VP Jay-Anne Encarnado stressed that protecting young Filipinos online needs teamwork between families, schools, and providers.
These community efforts back robust network defense: in 2025, Converge blocked nearly 12 billion harmful content access attempts and blacklisted over 72,000 risky domains. The company works with DICT, NTC, CICC, PNP, and global partners to fight threats. CEO Dennis Anthony Uy said blocks are only half the solution — educating youth is the strongest shield.
Project PIGLET earned the National Privacy Commission’s Kabataang Digital Award. Launched in late 2024, it has now reached Metro Manila, Pampanga, Mindoro, and Cebu, advancing Converge’s “Tech for Good” mission of inclusive digital progress.
