PLDT secures full ownership of Radius Telecoms

PLDT Inc. on Friday announced completing the purchase of the remaining 65.1 percent stake in Radius Telecoms Inc. and taking full control of the connectivity provider. With the deal finalized, PLDT now holds 100 percent of all issued and outstanding shares of Radius.

The acquisition deepens PLDT’s reach in high-demand enterprise and data services, backed by Radius’s more than 11,000-kilometer end-to-end fiber network covering Mega Manila and nearby provinces, plus key hubs in Clark and Cebu. Radius ranks among the preferred connectivity providers in the Mega Manila area, delivering direct internet access, global networking, managed and cloud offerings including software-defined wide-area networking and zero-trust networking solutions.

The transaction comes as PLDT reported its financial results for the first half of the year, posting a net income of P16.4 billion from January through June, down from P17.4 billion in the same period last year. Gross service revenues rose 2 percent to P108.7 billion, while net service revenues after interconnect costs edged up 1 percent to P97.8 billion. Data and broadband stayed the primary growth engine, contributing P84 billion or 86 percent of net service revenues, compared with 85 percent a year earlier; stripping out the impact of legacy services, net service revenues would have grown 2 percent. Core earnings from PLDT’s telecommunications business reached P16.6 billion in the first half, with the company noting that higher depreciation and amortization alongside softer telco operating results were partially offset by consistent profitability from its digital finance arm Maya.
