PAL extends Riyadh flight suspension until October 11 over regional security concerns

The Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced on Friday that it will keep its flights to and from Riyadh suspended through October 11, extending the original pause by 72 hours as regional security conditions remain under close watch. The affected services, flights PR654 and PR655, will not operate from October 9 to 11, 2026, while the airline continues to assess airport conditions and ensure safe flight operations.

The decision follows recent attacks targeting Saudi Arabian airports—including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport—claimed by Yemen’s Houthi movement. Those incidents took place on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, prompting the initial suspension of the Riyadh route.

PAL said all affected passengers will be informed about cancellations and assisted with available travel options. The airline noted that resumption of regular services will depend on a thorough safety evaluation. “We understand that this extended disruption creates additional uncertainty for our passengers. We apologize for the inconvenience and remain focused on assisting them with their travel arrangements while closely monitoring developments,” the carrier stated in its announcement. Safety and well-being of passengers and crew remain the top priority, it added, with further updates to be provided as the situation evolves.
