Manila Water prepares East Zone for severe drought

Manila Water has kept its core sanitation services fully running while preparing for the stronger El Niño expected in early 2027, clearing 94,917 septic tanks across the East Zone from January through August 2026. The company serviced 11,470 tanks in August alone, covering all types of domestic accounts. This ongoing work guards public health and stops untreated waste from contaminating rivers and waterways—critical when drier conditions make clean water even more precious. Alongside adding new water sources and strengthening supply networks, Manila Water maintained perfect compliance across all 28 wastewater treatment facilities in August, with treated discharge meeting national standards and supporting healthy aquatic life. Corporate Communications Head Dittie Galang said proper upkeep prevents overflows and keeps communities safe as water resources face greater pressure. The company continues to deliver reliable wastewater services and urges customers to join the program, advancing both environmental care and long-term water sustainability through consistent, year-round operations.
