    BOC to file economic sabotage charges over P202M mackerel seizure

    The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is preparing to file economic sabotage charges against the importer behind the recently seized P202-million worth of misdeclared frozen mackerel at the Port of Manila. 

    New pork price cap to take effect in Metro Manila wet markets

    The Department of Agriculture (DA) will implement a maximum suggested retail price (MSRP) for pork in wet markets across the National Capital Region starting 10 March. The new price cap will set pork liempo at P380 per kilogram, kasim and pigue at P350 per kilogram, and "sabit ulo" (the price traders pass to retailers) at P300 per kilogram.

    Mining group scores Palawan’s 50-year moratorium on mining projects

    The Chamber of Mines of the Philippines (COMP) has expressed strong objections to the Palawan provincial government decision implementing a 50-year moratorium on new mining projects, calling it “myopic” and counterproductive. The local ordinance, passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Palawan, halts the issuance of mining endorsements, exploration permits, and mineral agreements for five decades.

    DA bans poultry imports from 3 US States

    The Department of Agriculture (DA) has lifted the importation ban on poultry products from France while imposing a temporary ban on imports from the US states of Indiana, New York, and Pennsylvania.

    NFA urges farmers to dry palay for higher prices amid hot weather

    The National Food Authority (NFA) is encouraging rice farmers to take advantage of the hot weather to dry their palay, helping boost earnings through higher selling prices. NFA administrator Larry Lacson said that drying palay may incur additional costs but offers significant rewards, with private millers currently paying P20 to P22 per kilogram for clean, dry palay, compared to P15 to P17 for wet palay.
