    Meralco reduces power rates for June bill

    Manila Electric Co., the country’s largest power distributor better known as Meralco, announced on Wednesday a reduction in electricity rates, lowering charges by P0.1076 per kiloWatt-hourin June, the second rate reduction in as many months.

    The Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded 6,680.887 MW of renewable energy capacity under the third Green Energy Auction (GEA 3), based on a 9 June 2025 filing disclosed Tuesday. Seven developers submitted 12 winning bids under the program, which offers fixed-rate incentives to developers bidding below the Energy Regulatory Commission’s (ERC) reserve price.

    Motorists will face higher fuel costs starting Tuesday as major and independent retailers implement across-the-board price hikes. Gasoline prices will increase by P0.60 per liter, diesel by P0.95, and kerosene by P0.30, marking the fourth straight week of increases for gasoline.
