    Petroleum prices retreat after five weeks of hikes

    The various fuel retailers have cut the cost of petroleum products sold at the pumps after five weeks of increases.

    MGen Renewable Energy Inc. (MGreen), a unit of publicly-listed power distributor Manila Electric Co., has acquired 2.17 billion SP New Energy Corp. (SPNEC) shares from its parent Solar Philippines Power Project Holdings Inc. for P2.5 billion. 

    Higher generation charge push February power rates up; FIT-All collection resumes  

    The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) on Thursday announced an upward adjustment of P0.5738 per kWh in the February electricity rate. This brings the overall rate for a typical household to P11.9168 per kWh this month from P11.3430 per kWh in January.

    Mitsubishi plug-in hybrid EV on loan to DOE as demo unit

    Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) has agreed to lend its plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEVs) to the Department of Energy (DOE) for purposes of promoting such vehicles in the Philippines. PHEVs run on both battery power and traditional internal combustion engines.
