Sectors push for policy reforms amid record-high power costs
Various groups and industry stakeholders are calling for policy changes that help bring down electricity rates at the hearing convened by the Senate Committee on Energy on Thursday. The Department of Energy confirmed earlier this week that power rates average P12.43 per kilowatt-hour in June, the highest across all 11 ASEAN member states, and slightly higher than Singapore’s for the same month.
