National Treasury to auction next week P45B treasury bills, bonds

The National Treasury will auction next week a total P45 billion worth of treasury bills and bonds as part of fund-raising to efforts for budgetary support.

On Tuesday, the Bureau of Treasury will offer a total P15 billion worth of treasury bills—P5 billion each for the three-, six- and 12-month maturities.

On Wednesday, the treasury will accept bids for P30 billion worth of 3-year bonds due January 2027.

The treasury plans to offer in January a total P75 billion worth of treasury bills and P120 billion of treasury bonds.

The National Treasury earlier announced a domestic borrowing plan that involves offering at weekly auctions for the whole of 2024  a total P672 billion treasury bills and P1.8 trillion treasury bonds with maturity ranging from three to 20 years.

Borrowings of the national government will help fill a projected budget deficit of P1.4 trillion next year.
