DMCI Holdings power unit get energy sales boost from Palawan operations

DMCI Power Corp., the off-grid power generation unit of listed energy and construction group DMCI Holdings  Inc., recorded a 7 percent increase in sales volume in 2023 to 454 gigaWatt-hours.

“Our sales have grown steadily for 11 consecutive quarters because of solid demand and our targeted investments in underserved and unserved areas, reflecting our dedication to missionary electrification,” said DPC president Antonino Gatdula, Jr.

Palawan operations, which in 2023 overtook Masbate as DPC’s largest market, contributed 44 percent to the total sales volume.

Masbate and Oriental Mindoro accounted for 34 percent and 22 percent, respectively.

Palawan energy sales expanded by 12 percent to 200GWh on the combined effect of higher capacity and demand.

DPC in August started commercial operations of its P1.5 billion thermal power plant in Palawan, coinciding with the surge in local and international tourist arrivals.

Energy dispatch in Masbate rose 5 percent to 156 GWh on higher demand and plant availability.

Sales in Oriental Mindoro, however, declined by 2 percent to 97GWh due to the increased availability of renewable energy power plants.

DPC is the largest off-grid energy generator in the Philippines in terms of installed capacity. At the end of 2023, it had a total installed capacity of around 160 MW, up by 17 percent from the previous year.
