Treasury bills auction attracts strong demand; yields generally lower

The Bureau of the Treasury awarded the entire P15 billion worth of treasury bills offered at the auction Monday.

Demand reached P50.7 billion, 3.4 times the offered amount at the auction.

Yields on treasury bills for 91-day and 182-day were lower on strong demand. The average rate on the one-year paper was up slightly.

Average rate on the 3-month paper eased to 5.772 percent from 5.778 percent while that on the 182-day bill eased to 5.966 percent from last week’s 5.995 percent. Yield on the one-year bill climbed to 6.100 percent from 6.087 percent.
