Topline investing P210 million to build 9 fuel stations in Cebu

Top Line Business Development Corp., a privately-held Cebu-based commercial fuel trading, depot and retail fuel operations, has invested around P210 million to fund the construction of seven additional Light Fuels service stations and two Light Fuels Express service stations in Cebu.

“We inaugurated our first service station under the Light Fuels brand just last year, but our expansion continues as we aim to meet the growing demand in Central Visayas,” said Erik Lim, Topline’s chairman, president, and chief executive officer, in a statement.

Topline seeks to capitalize on the rising demand for fuel in Central Visayas, where the number of registered new and old vehicles has risen 9 percent last year.

“The total projected annual volume for the 9 service stations is approximately 12 million to 12.5 million liters. By increasing the liquid fuel supply in the market, we aim to contribute to the region’s fuel security, particularly amid supply risks,” Lim said.

Operated by Topline’s subsidiary, Light Fuels Corp., the fuel service stations are slated to be fully operational within the year. The company inaugurated its first service station in Mandaue City, Cebu, in February 2023.

Light Fuels service stations will integrate state-of-the-art technology to ensure a swift and efficient fueling experience, including RFID payment processing. The stations will also be equipped to accommodate changing power trends, offering options for electric vehicle charging kits. The stations will provide commercial opportunities for tenants seeking leasing options.

Acknowledging that 68 percent of vehicles in Region VII are motorcycles based on LTO-VII’s records, Light Fuels Express stations will primarily cater to motorcycles, scooters, and light vehicles.

As part of Topline’s synergy strategy through vertical integration, Topline Logistics and Development Corp., another subsidiary, will supply and distribute liquid fuel to Light Fuels service stations to optimize costs and mitigate supply chain risks.
