The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) said efforts are underway to restore power services in areas affected by typhoon Carina and habagat rains as quickly as possible.
As of 12 noon Wednesday, around 124,000 customers were without electricity in Metro Manila and in portions of Laguna, Batangas, Bulacan and Quezon province.
Meralco said heavy flooding caused the outages across its service area and urged the public to observe safety measures when using electrical devices and appliances.
“We kindly ask for patience and understanding from our customers without power service. Our crews will immediately be deployed to restore power service once floods subside in the affected areas,” said Joe Zaldarriaga, Meralco vice president and head of corporate communications, in a statement.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said that as of 2 PM Wednesday, all its transmission lines and facilities operated normally.
