    Average rates in treasury bills mixed at Monday’s auction; issue upsized to P22.6 billion

    Treasury bill yields were mixed at the auction Monday, with average rates on six- and 12-month debt papers slightly higher despite strong demand.
    Total bids for the P20 billion offer was nearly three times at P53.5 billion, allowing the Bureau of the Treasury to increase the amount awarded to P22.6 billion. 

    Yield on the 91-day bill eased to 5.947 percent from last week’s 5.966 percent.

    The rates on 182-day and 364-day papers were higher at 6.002 percent and 6.040 percent, respectively. Last week, the yield on the six-month paper was 5.996 percent while that on the 364-day treasury bill was 6.022 percent.

    On Tuesday, the BTr is scheduled to issue 20-year treasury bonds with only 3 years left before it matures. The bond was issued in 2007 at a coupon of 8.625 percent.
