Converge powers up Davao Airport with fiber broadband for holiday travel surge

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is continuing its mission to enhance connectivity across the Philippines, this time with the installation of a 1-gigabyte fiber broadband connection at Davao International Airport. The new service, which was officially launched on 13 November, aims to support the nearly 3.9 million passengers who pass through the airport each year, ensuring high-speed internet access across its 65,000 square-meter terminal.

“We’re excited to bring fiber broadband to Davao International Airport, just in time for the holiday travel surge,” said Dennis Anthony Uy, CEO and co-founder of Converge. “This is part of our ongoing effort to fiberize the country’s key gateways, and we consider it an early Christmas gift for travelers.”

The installation, which includes 49 access points throughout the airport’s passenger areas, is capable of delivering 1 Gbps of bandwidth, with extra capacity built in to accommodate both passengers and airport staff. The system is expected to serve up to 12,500 daily users.

Travelers will enjoy two hours of free internet access upon logging into the Converge network. GoFiber subscribers can access an additional six hours of connectivity across up to five devices by entering their account number at the login page.

Davao International, the busiest airport on the island of Mindanao and the third busiest in the country as of 2022, joins Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in receiving fiber broadband as part of Converge corporate social responsibility initiative to bring fast, reliable internet to major Philippine gateways.
