Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc., the infrastructure arm of the Aboitiz Group, is expanding its airport portfolio with the award of the Bohol-Panglao International Airport upgrade. The Department of Transportation and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines issued the notice of award on November 18, and the concession agreement is expected to be signed by year-end.
The P4.53 billion Bohol-Panglao airport project marks Aboitiz Infra’s second successful airport public-private partnership for this year, following Laguindingan International Airport. The project will enhance the Bohol airport passenger facilities, modernize airside and landside infrastructure, and expand capacity to 2.5 million passengers per year, with further expansion to 3.9 million passengers by 2030.
“Our commitment to modernizing the Bohol-Panglao International Airport underscores our vision of creating world-class infrastructure… boosting economic opportunities, enhancing tourism, and improving connectivity in the Visayas region,” said Aboitiz Infra president and chief executive officer Cosette V. Canilao. She said the Bohol project strengthens Aboitiz Infra’s position in the aviation sector.
Aboitiz Infra already manages two major gateways: Mactan-Cebu and Laguindingan. It aims to modernize Philippine aviation infrastructure to global standards, particularly major tourism destinations such as Cebu and Bohol.
“We aim to bring the same level of excellence and innovation that we are demonstrating with Mactan-Cebu,” said Rafael Aboitiz, a vice president at Aboitiz Infra.
