DigiPlus Interactive Corp., a leading player in the gaming industry, is making a significant leap into Brazil’s burgeoning online betting market. The company has confirmed plans to launch its local online betting platform, ArenaPlus, in Brazil by the fourth quarter this year.
Celeste Jovenir, DigiPlus’ vice president for investor relations, revealed that the company is finalizing preparations for the launch, positioning ArenaPlus as the primary vehicle entry into the Latin American market. ArenaPlus, which claims to be the largest legal sports betting platform in the Philippines, will integrate a range of services, including free sports streaming, sports news, community engagement, and diverse betting options such as slot games, poker, bingo, casino, and virtual games.
DigiPlus also confirmed that its Brazilian subsidiary, DigiPlus Brazil Interactive Ltd., has secured a coveted license from Brazil’s Secretariat of Awards and Bets to operate sports betting and online games. Only 10 percent of applicants received such approval, highlighting the competitive nature of Brazil’s gaming regulatory environment.
Chairman Eusebio H. Tanco emphasized the strategic significance of the move, commenting, “Brazil’s dynamic gaming landscape presents a pivotal milestone in DigiPlus’ global journey. We are bringing not just our innovative platforms and diverse gaming portfolio, but also our unwavering commitment to responsible gaming. By combining our proven platforms with localized insights, we are confident in our ability to resonate with Brazilian players and contribute to the country’s thriving iGaming sector.”
In preparation for the launch, DigiPlus filed an application in August for the Licença Para Loterias De Apostas De Quota Fixa, a federal license that will allow for the operation of land-based and online sports betting, electronic games, and live gaming studios in Brazil. The company successfully passed the qualification stage in November and is now required to meet regulatory requirements within 30 days.
As part of its post-qualification process, DigiPlus has approved an initial funding allocation of P660 million to cover license fees, capitalization, financial reserves, and other operational costs for the three-month horizon.
With a population of over 200 million and a rapidly growing interest in sports betting, Brazil represents a major growth opportunity for DigiPlus. The Brazilian gaming market, valued at $2 billion in 2024, is expected to nearly double by 2029, with a projected annual growth rate of 15 to 20 percent.
DigiPlus’ strategic foray into Brazil is set to not only expand its footprint in Latin America but also to position the company as a key player in the global gaming industry.
