Globe expands network in Iloilo to support economic growth and digital transformation

In a bid to strengthen connectivity and support the growing economic landscape of Iloilo province, Globe Telecom has built over 10 new network sites across the region in 2024. This expansion enhances both broadband and mobile services, catering to the increasing digital demands of local businesses and residents.

Iloilo, which posted a robust 10.5 percent GDP growth in 2023, continues to shine as a key economic player in Western Visayas, contributing P215.42 billion to the regional economy. Key sectors like retail trade, transportation, and financial services—boosted by improved digital infrastructure—are poised to benefit from Globe’s efforts. The service sector, making up 56.5 percent of the province’s economy, along with agriculture and industry, stands to gain from better connectivity, enabling faster transactions and smoother customer experiences.

Globe’s expansion also aims to bridge the digital divide, offering enhanced connectivity in both urban and rural areas. This is expected to empower local businesses, improve access to online services, and provide better communication, ultimately fostering greater economic growth.

“We are committed to empowering communities through improved digital access,” said Patrick Gloria, Globe VP for external affairs. “Our network expansion is an investment in Iloilo’s future, unlocking new growth opportunities and supporting its ongoing digital transformation.”

In addition to driving business innovation, the upgraded network will enhance the experience for attendees of Iloilo’s annual Dinagyang Festival, further cementing the province’s reputation as a growing cultural and economic hub.
