Prime Infra Foundation and Ahunan Power have partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) to bring Starlink satellite internet to public schools in Pakil, Laguna, aiming to keep students connected during weather-related disruptions.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara led the launch Wednesday at Cornelio C. Dalena Elementary School, saying reliable connectivity can help protect learning continuity during disasters.
Angara said students in some school divisions miss as many as 40 to 50 school days because of class disruptions.
Under a memorandum of agreement with DepEd’s Schools Division Office of Laguna, beneficiary schools will receive Starlink units, while Ahunan Power will cover monthly subscription fees for three years.
Schools will also receive training and technical guidance on equipment use and maintenance.
Prime Infra Foundation Executive Director Donato Almeda said the project will give students and teachers greater access to digital resources and modern teaching tools while strengthening schools’ resilience.
The initiative supports DepEd’s Adopt-a-School program and is part of Ahunan Power’s Tayo Na Pakil community engagement initiative.
