With an overwhelming majority, members of the House of Representatives impeached Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday. A total of 215 lawmakers—two-thirds of the 316 House members—signed the verified impeachment complaint against her. Duterte has faced scrutiny in recent months over allegations of misusing funds from both her office and the Department of Education (DepEd), which she headed until resigning in June. To advance the complaint straight to the Senate without any hearings, a minimum of 102 signatures was required. The Senate will now convene as a tribunal to try the case against Duterte.
