Clark International Airport (CRK), operated by the Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corp. (LIPAD), is anticipating a significant surge in passenger traffic this year. The expected rise, from 2.4 million passengers in 2024 to a forecast of 3.3 million to 3.4 million, is driven by the transfer of some turboprop operations from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
LIPAD CEO Noel Manankil said, “The original forecast was 3 million passengers, but with the inclusion of turboprops, we are looking at a higher figure for 2025.” This shift comes after Cebu Pacific’s announcement to gradually move its turboprop operations from NAIA Terminal 2 to CRK, in line with a resolution by the Manila Slot Coordination Committee in December last year. By 30 March 2025, Cebu Pacific flights to Masbate and Siargao will relocate to CRK. Philippine Airlines (PAL) will follow suit, transferring its turboprop operations by October 2025.
In 2024, CRK posted a 32 percent growth in domestic passenger traffic and a 15 percent rise in international passengers. Domestic flights surged by 56 percent, while international routes grew by 12 percent. This growth highlights CRK’s expanding role as a key hub for both domestic and international travelers.
The airport’s continued success is reflected in its recognition as the International Airport of the Year – Philippines at the 2024 TDM Travel Trade Excellence Awards. CRK’s innovative approaches, including the implementation of Minimum Performance Specifications and Standards (MPSS), have set a high bar for operational efficiency and service quality. Regular audits and passenger feedback ensure that CRK remains at the forefront of the global aviation industry, further cementing its significance as a vital economic gateway for the region.
