CIS Bayad Center Inc. has partnered with 7-Eleven in revolutionizing the bill payment experience for millions of Filipinos. The collaboration enables Meralco customers to settle their electricity bills at over 4,000 7-Eleven CLiQQ Kiosks nationwide, with the added benefit of real-time posting via Bayad, eliminating the typical 24-hour delay.
Bayad president and CEO Lawrence Y. Ferrer emphasized the importance of accessibility and financial inclusion, saying, “Filipino bill payors are the lifeblood of our rebuilding economy.” The partnership is supported by Bayad’s investor, Kayana Solutions Inc., the data innovation arm of the MVP Group of Companies, which also plays a key role in expanding the service.
Kayana chief commercial officer, Kat Luna Abelarde highlighted the significance of real-time payments for Filipinos, noting that it helps consumers avoid penalties while improving accessibility. Meralco chairman Manny V. Pangilinan expressed confidence in the partnership’s potential to reshape financial transactions in the country.
In addition to Meralco payments, the 7-Eleven kiosks will also accept payments for services such as Smart, PLDT, Red Fiber, MMDA violations, and National Housing Authority (NHA) mortgages. Top-up services for Cignal and Easytrip RFID will be activated soon.
7-Eleven’s president and CEO, Jose Victor P. Paterno, remarked on the timeliness of this partnership, especially given the 24/7 availability of their network. The collaboration is seen as a significant step toward leveraging 7-Eleven’s vast reach and database of over 30 million customers to drive financial inclusion in the country.
