Anjo World theme park goes green with First Gen

Belmont Group Partners with Leading RE Provider to Boost Sustainability Efforts

Cebu-based Belmont Group, owner of the largest theme park in Visayas and Mindanao, has taken a major step toward sustainability with the signing of an agreement with First Gen Corporation for renewable energy (RE) supply. This deal, completed on 13 February 2025, will see First Gen provide 750 kilowatts of geothermal electricity to Belmont One, the mixed-use commercial complex in Minglanilla, Cebu.

The partnership aligns with Belmont Group’s long-term sustainability goals and comes as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to renewable energy solutions. Anjo World Theme Park, the crown jewel of Belmont One, will benefit from this green electricity initiative, marking a significant reduction in its carbon footprint.

“We are committed to continuous innovation and the adoption of more efficient, forward-thinking solutions in our operations,” said Chester Lim, president of Anjo World and Belmont One. “Transitioning to renewable energy not only optimizes energy costs but also contributes to our environmental goals.”

The collaboration is a part of a broader sustainability strategy by Belmont Group, which has already installed solar panels to partially power Belmont One. First Gen, a leading renewable energy provider in the Philippines, is known for its extensive portfolio of geothermal, hydro, wind, and solar plants. The company’s 28 plants, which generate up to 1,651 MW of renewable energy, support the country’s energy security.

The agreement also includes the installation of a remote energy monitoring system by First Gen and its sister company Pi Energy, enabling real-time tracking of energy usage, particularly for the theme park and other retail spaces.

“Theme parks consume a significant amount of power, but they also contribute significantly to the local economy,” said Arlene Sy, head of power sales and marketing at First Gen. “Through our partnership with Belmont One, we’re helping Anjo World shift to cleaner electricity, reducing its environmental impact.”

The collaboration not only underscores First Gen’s dedication to sustainable energy but also highlights the growing trend of corporate responsibility in reducing environmental footprints.
