CALAX Governor’s Drive Interchange on track for completion this year

MPCALA Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), is on track to complete the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) Governor’s Drive Interchange in the second half of 2025, a milestone expected to enhance regional connectivity and push economic expansion.

The company announced that the new interchange is around 40 percent complete, with construction continuing on other parts of the CALAX project. The infrastructure will significantly improve access to General Trias and nearby areas, easing congestion on Governor’s Drive and Aguinaldo Highway while providing smoother, faster travel across the region.

MPCALA officer-in-charge Elnora D. Rumawak said, “We are committed to completing the entire stretch of CALAX by 2025. Its full opening will not only ease traffic and improve connectivity but also support economic growth by enhancing access to key areas in Cavite and Laguna.”

Beyond the Governor’s Drive Interchange, other segments of CALAX are advancing steadily. Subsection 1, which includes the Kawit Interchange, is over 31 percent complete while Subsection 2 (Open Canal Interchange) stands at 21.9 percent complete.

Once fully operational, CALAX will stretch 45 kilometers, connecting Mamplasan Rotunda in Laguna to Kawit, Cavite, and integrate with major expressways for seamless travel between Cavite, Laguna, and Metro Manila. The expressway will feature eight interchanges and, upon completion, is expected to serve up to 95,000 vehicles daily, significantly reducing travel time and boosting regional economic activity.

The project is part of MPCALA’s broader efforts to improve infrastructure in the country. MPTC’s portfolio includes major expressways like the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), as well as the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).
