China helping NLEX construct P2.2B elevated expressway project

NLEX Corporation has entered into a strategic partnership with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) to construct the NLEX-C5 Northlink Segment 8.2 Section 1A, a P2.2 billion elevated expressway. The project, which aims to extend the NLEX Mindanao toll plaza to Quirino Highway in Novaliches, is expected to alleviate daily traffic congestion along Mindanao Avenue and Quirino Highway.

Set to span across the Tullahan River in Quezon City, the elevated expressway will provide a direct route for commuters traveling to and from Novaliches. Once completed, the project will offer smoother, more efficient travel across North Metro Manila’s east and west corridors, improving access to key business areas.

Arrey Perez, president and COO of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), emphasized the Metro Pacific Group’s commitment to advancing national infrastructure development, underscoring the benefits of the 24/7 expressway access for all vehicle classes. “This project is a significant step in easing traffic congestion while enhancing mobility for both commuters and businesses,” Perez said.

The infrastructure, part of the larger 11.3-kilometer NLEX-C5 Northlink project, will support logistics operations by providing a reliable alternative route for trucks, contributing to improved goods movement. It is also expected to generate local employment and create business opportunities in the construction and operational phases. The project is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2026, further cementing NLEX’s role in bolstering the country’s transportation and economic sectors.

NLEX is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), the toll road arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
