NLEX Corporation officially broke ground on the P2.2 billion NLEX-C5 Northlink Section 1A project on Tuesday, aiming to reduce traffic congestion in eastern Quezon City. The elevated expressway will extend NLEX from the Mindanao Toll Plaza to Quirino Highway, offering a 24/7 route for all vehicle types, providing a seamless connection for motorists traveling to and from Novaliches.
The NLEX-C5 Northlink project, part of an 11.3-kilometer expressway expansion worth P24 billion, is expected to significantly reduce congestion on major roads like EDSA and Commonwealth Avenue. MPTC president and CEO, Jose Ma Lim, stressed the project’s role in enhancing mobility, which he believes will foster economic growth, job creation, and improved logistics.
The elevated structure was chosen to minimize disruptions during construction for local communities. The 2-kilometer road is expected to be completed in 12 months, with MPTC committed to working closely with stakeholders to ensure smooth operations during development.
The project aligns with the government’s Build Better More program and reflects the continued growth of the NLEX network, which is crucial for regional economic development. NLEX is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, part of the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation group.
