PLDT Enterprise, the corporate arm of PLDT, has teamed up with global cloud communications provider Infobip to bolster SMS security for its subscribers. By integrating Infobip’s Anam Protect Firewall solution into Smart Communications Inc. (Smart)’s network, PLDT enhances its commitment to provide secure, innovative solutions.
The firewall integration has significantly reduced instances of spam and smishing, ensuring a safer digital environment for Smart subscribers. Infobip’s technology, ranked #1 by Rocco as a leading omnichannel firewall provider, is now a key component in safeguarding both person-to-person (P2P) and application-to-person (A2P) messaging security.
Hosted within PLDT Enterprise’s VITRO Data Centers, the solution improves network efficiency and speeds up SMS delivery, all while protecting against fraudulent messaging. From August 2024 to January 2025, the firewall successfully blocked over 1.3 billion instances of spam, SIM farm activities, and fraud attempts.
Josh Montecillo, assistant VP at PLDT Enterprise, highlighted the partnership’s importance, noting its role in reinforcing Smart’s secure, reliable network. Infobip’s Telecom business director, Goran Valjak, echoed the sentiment, calling the initiative a vital step in fighting digital fraud.
The collaboration also enables businesses to migrate to Smart’s secure 5G and 4G networks via Mobile Number Portability, ensuring a seamless transition with enhanced security and superior customer support. Through this partnership, PLDT Enterprise solidifies its leadership in digital innovation while prioritizing cybersecurity for its users.
