SM Prime Holdings, Inc., one of Southeast Asia’s leading integrated property developers, is expanding its Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) footprint with the launch of the SMX Center for International Trade and Exhibitions (SMXCITE)—a P1.7 billion investment that is expected to elevate Manila’s status as a regional trade event hub.
SMXCITE, located at the SM Mall of Asia complex, is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027 and will add over 18,000 square meters of leasable trade hall space, effectively doubling the capacity of the existing SMX Convention Center Manila.
“This expansion reflects our confidence in the Philippines’ growing stature in the MICE space,” said Peggy Angeles, Executive Vice President of SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. “With world-class infrastructure and a strategic location, we believe Manila can rival regional peers as a go-to venue for international trade events.”
The facility, designed with sustainability in mind, will consist of two buildings constructed simultaneously, each capable of hosting more than 18,000 guests. Combined with SMX Manila, the complex will offer over 35,000 square meters of flexible event space, cementing the MOA Complex’s appeal to global organizers.
Upon completion of SMXCITE, SM Prime’s total convention portfolio will reach nearly 60,000 square meters across eight locations nationwide—solidifying its role as a major force in the fast-evolving MICE sector.
