A P3.3-billion SMX Convention Center, billed as the largest in the Philippines, will rise in Cebu by the third quarter of 2026, cementing the city’s position as a premier hub for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE).
Located along the Cebu South Coastal Road, the landmark project of SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. (SMHCC) will deliver more than 21,000 square meters of leasable event space, setting a new benchmark for large-scale MICE facilities nationwide.
Designed with scalable halls, professional support services, and world-class amenities, the venue will enable organizers to mount international-caliber events for up to 18,000 delegates, offering flexibility, efficiency, and convenience under one roof.
“Cebu has always been one of the most in-demand destinations for events, and we are proud to finally bring SMX’s trusted brand of service to this dynamic market. It’s the culmination of more than two decades of experience in delivering professional and high-impact events,” said Walid Wafik, senior vice president for operations of SMHCC.
The SMX Convention Center will rise beside SM Seaside City Cebu, providing direct connectivity to lifestyle, retail, and hospitality hubs, and seamless access to key infrastructure such as the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway and the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
The project forms part of a master-planned development that includes a 300-room Park Inn Hotel, a 200-room Radisson Hotel, and the 16,000-seat SM Seaside Arena, reinforcing Cebu’s stature as a fully integrated MICE and entertainment destination.
“This development responds to long-standing demand for a convention venue of this scale in Cebu. Soon, delegates will no longer need to fly to Manila for major exhibitions, summits, or concerts—the experience will be right here,” Wafik said.
Internationally recognized, SMX delivers professionally managed, world-class convention venues.
