The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (DICT-ILCDB) have partnered to strengthen cybersecurity across government institutions, as cybercrime continues to rise in the country.

Under a Memorandum of Understanding signed on January 20, 2026, the two organizations will work together to train selected government officers in cybersecurity. The goal is to improve the ability of public institutions to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber-enabled financial crimes, helping protect public funds and digital services.
The partnership builds on BPI’s CyberAcademy, a public-private training program that provides practical skills in cybersecurity, digital fraud, and cybercrime prevention. In 2024, the program trained 17 government officers, with 12 earning international CompTIA Security+ certification. The initiative responds to growing cybercrime cases, which exceeded 10,000 complaints in 2024 and resulted in nearly P200 million in losses, mostly from online scams.
By investing in cybersecurity skills for government personnel, BPI and DICT-ILCDB aim to strengthen digital trust, improve public service resilience, and support a safer digital environment for Filipinos as government services become increasingly digital.
