Cebu levels up as regional MICR powerhouse

Cebu cemented its rise as a premier meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) destination in Southeast Asia with the official launch of the Cebu MICE Guidebook during the ASEAN Tourism Forum’s Travel Exchange (TRAVEX) at the Mactan Expo in Mactan Newtown.

Unveiled before regional and global tourism stakeholders, the guidebook is the product of a broad industry collaboration led by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, working alongside hotels, venue operators, transport providers, and professional conference organizers. It profiles nearly 300 establishments and service providers across Cebu’s MICE ecosystem, offering event planners a one-stop, practical reference for staging business events in the province.

Cebu’s value proposition is backed by scale and diversity. The destination offers more than 20,000 guest rooms available daily, a growing inventory of purpose-built and adaptable venues, and a mature mix of dining, retail, and lifestyle experiences.

This allows Cebu to host events ranging from intimate executive meetings to large-scale international conventions—while giving delegates compelling experiences beyond the conference hall.

For Cleofe Albiso, president of the Cebu MICE Alliance and managing director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, Cebu’s appeal goes beyond infrastructure. “Cebu invites the global community to engage with its people, culture, and purpose—creating opportunities for inclusive and sustainable growth,” she said.

Albiso added that Cebu positions itself as a destination “where business, culture, nature, and people come together seamlessly,” enriching every gathering with local character and genuine hospitality.

Designed as a strategic tool for international associations, corporate organizers, and incentive planners, the Cebu MICE Guidebook underscores the province’s readiness to host events that connect ideas, industries, and communities—reinforcing Cebu’s growing role as a regional hub for business tourism and collaboration.
