PLDT Inc. said improving customer experience is its top priority as it upgrades its network systems across the Philippines.
At the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, Spain, PLDT and its wireless arm Smart Communications, Inc. shared how they are modernizing both fixed and wireless networks to deliver more reliable and consistent services nationwide.
Ariel Medina, head of network quality at PLDT and Smart, said all company investments and innovations are focused on improving the digital experience of Filipinos. He stressed that network planning should prioritize how customers actually experience services like video streaming, gaming, calls, and messaging.
The company is shifting from reacting to network issues to predicting and preventing them. This includes using better data insights, automation, and analytics to detect and fix problems faster.
PLDT said these efforts have already led to improvements in call quality, 5G performance, and overall data usage in 2025.
Medina also noted that the Philippines’ geography and exposure to natural disasters make building networks challenging, but these factors have pushed the company to innovate and strengthen its systems.
PLDT added that it continues to work with global partners to improve connectivity and support national development, including expanding digital access and helping meet the United Nations goal on infrastructure and innovation.
