Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is stepping up its Southeast Asian expansion, moving aggressively into the Philippines’ high-volume motorcycle market through partnerships with 14 local distributors ahead of its planned commercial launch this June.
The agreements bring together a wide network of established retail players, including Wheeltek, Motoxpress, and Motortrade-affiliated dealers, giving VinFast instant access to an extensive showroom and service footprint across the country.
The strategy signals a deliberate push to secure scale early in one of the region’s most motorcycle-dependent markets, where two-wheelers remain the backbone of daily transportation.
Rather than relying on a gradual market entry, VinFast is fast-tracking visibility and availability. The company plans to open multiple showrooms simultaneously across key urban hubs such as Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao, alongside emerging growth corridors in Luzon.
These outlets will showcase its line of swappable-battery electric scooters, including the Evo, Feliz II, and Viper—models tailored for dense urban commuting and short-distance travel patterns common in Philippine cities.
A central pillar of the rollout is infrastructure. To address one of the biggest barriers to electric mobility—charging downtime—VinFast is planning up to 30,000 battery-swapping stations nationwide. The system is designed to allow riders to replace depleted batteries in minutes, positioning the service as a practical alternative to conventional refueling and home charging limitations.
The company is also bundling distribution with after-sales support, financing options, and energy infrastructure in an effort to build a full-service ecosystem rather than a standalone product offering. This integrated approach is aimed at accelerating consumer adoption in a market increasingly sensitive to fuel costs, congestion, and sustainability concerns.
The Philippines, one of Southeast Asia’s largest motorcycle markets, represents a strategic foothold for VinFast as it seeks to expand its electric mobility presence across the region.
