Aboitiz Foods unit Gold Coin Management Holdings Pte. Ltd., has acquired an aquaculture research and development facility in Singapore from Adisseo Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd..
The facility is located at the Singapore Food Agency’s Marine Aquaculture Centre on St. John’s Island. It has advanced systems that allow controlled testing, feed studies, and performance monitoring for aquatic animals.
The company did not disclose the purchase price but said the deal will strengthen its research capabilities and help it develop science-based nutrition and feed products for customers across Asia-Pacific.
Aboitiz Foods CEO Tristan Aboitiz said the move supports the firm’s goal of improving its agribusiness through stronger research and practical solutions for customers.
The acquisition comes as aquaculture producers face growing pressure to improve efficiency, sustainability, and resilience.
The new facility is expected to boost Aboitiz Foods’ product development for feeds used in shrimp and fish such as tilapia, milkfish, pangasius, and seabass.
The deal also builds on the company’s earlier expansion in Singapore, including its acquisition of Diasham Resources earlier this year.
Aboitiz Foods is the food and agribusiness arm of the Aboitiz Group, combining brands like Pilmico and Gold Coin. It operates in eight countries and has a total annual feed production capacity of 4.2 million metric tons as of end-2024.
