Air-conditioned lounge opens at LRT-1 Baclaran Station

Commuters using the LRT-1 can now enjoy a cooler waiting area, as Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) has opened a new air-conditioned passenger lounge at the Baclaran Station (northbound).

The facility aims to give passengers relief from the intense summer heat by providing a comfortable, climate-controlled space while waiting for trains. LRMC said the project is part of its ongoing efforts to improve the commuting experience.

LRMC president and CEO Enrico Benipayo said the initiative is a simple but meaningful way to make daily travel more comfortable, especially during the dry season.

The lounge was developed in partnership with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries – Mahajak Air Conditioners Co. Ltd., which supplied the cooling systems.

Open to all passengers, the waiting area will prioritize senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with special needs. Commuters are encouraged to use the space only while waiting for trains and to move to boarding areas once trains arrive to allow others to use the facility.

LRMC said the new lounge is part of its broader push to modernize stations and improve comfort for daily riders.
