Free parking offered for LRT-2 passengers starting April 27

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that free parking will be available for passengers of the LRT-2 at Santolan Station beginning April 27, 2026.

The move follows a directive from Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to encourage more vehicle owners to use public transportation amid rising fuel prices caused by the ongoing Middle East oil crisis.

Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the DOTr is exploring ways to help motorists cut fuel costs and reduce travel time by shifting to train travel.

He noted that aside from the existing 50 percent fare discount on LRT-2, free parking will further help commuters save money and enjoy faster trips.

The free parking, managed by the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), will be available daily from 4:00 AM to 11:30 PM at designated spaces in Santolan Station. Slots will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

To use the service, passengers must get a parking stub from security personnel, have it validated at the station’s passenger assistance office, and present it upon exiting the parking area.
