Determined to retain its lead as the Philippines’ top battery electric vehicle (BEV) brand, VinFast is pursuing a parallel ambition: becoming the country’s foremost provider of electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS).
Antonio Zara III, VinFast Southeast Asia CEO, said this goal depends heavily on streamlining regulatory processes. “Our only ask is for government to facilitate faster permits so that we can install, construct, and energize our chargers faster,” he said, emphasizing the crucial role of both national agencies and local government units in speeding up deployment.
Data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. showed VinFast sold 1,171 units in the first quarter, reinforcing its early dominance in the fully electric segment.
While Zara did not disclose the current number of charging stations operated through affiliate V-Green, he stressed their importance—not only for VinFast owners but also for the fleet of Green GSM, an all-electric taxi and mobility service run by another affiliate.
Zara believes the broader market is nearing a pivotal shift. “Today, an EV is no longer a niche vehicle—it is already a practical buy,” he said.
He pointed to accelerating adoption trends: “We are at the inflection point to electrify everything. EV penetration grew by more than 50% in the first quarter of 2026, and we estimate it could double by the second quarter,” he said.
Consumers, he added, are no longer choosing between gasoline and diesel, but between hybrids and fully electric vehicles.
To sustain this momentum, VinFast is rapidly expanding its ecosystem. The company plans to double its dealership network to as many as 60 locations this year and grow its service footprint to at least 100 accredited workshops to strengthen after-sales support.
It is also rolling out new models, led by the MPV7—a seven-seater aimed at making EV ownership more accessible for families.
“Within the next 12 months, we are embarking on a very aggressive series of new model introductions,” Zara said, underscoring the company’s deepening commitment to the Philippine market.
