Many Filipino micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) expanding their online operations face a common challenge: rising order volumes bring more work in packing, shipping, inventory tracking, and handling returns—tasks that take time away from core business growth activities. This struggle is well-known to Em Uy-Taclibon, owner of Davao-based Filipino-Made Cast Iron, who previously managed every step of fulfillment alone. Her products are heavy, and packing each item took around 15 minutes; as orders grew, she realized she could not keep up without help. Like many sellers, she also faced pressure to match the fast, reliable service customers expect from large retailers.
Shopee’s Fulfilled by Shopee (FBS) service addresses this by handling end-to-end fulfillment: storage, packing, delivery, and returns. According to Jack Ng, Head of Commercial at Shopee Philippines, the solution is designed to give sellers consistent support as they scale, while ensuring buyers get a dependable experience.
Geography adds complexity nationwide, with longer routes and varied conditions slowing deliveries and raising costs, especially outside major cities. FBS counters this with warehouses across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, placing stock closer to customers—83 percent of FBS buyers live outside Metro Manila. This cuts delivery times to 3–5 working days, compared to 7–10 days for standard arrangements.
Since joining FBS, Em’s inventory is stored in Shopee’s Davao facility, and orders are processed even when she is away. She now has more time to source new products, host live sales, and create content, and has gained confidence to expand further. For her and similar sellers, the service removes operational barriers, letting them focus on growth, reach more customers, and seize new opportunities.
This development helps remove key operational bottlenecks for online MSMEs, supporting wider regional commerce and giving small businesses the same logistical advantages as larger brands, which can boost national economic activity and inclusive growth.
