Companies and foundations linked to tycoon Enrique K. Razon Jr. have launched a coordinated humanitarian response following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck southern Mindanao on June 8, mobilizing logistics, utilities, and community resources to support relief operations in General Santos City and Sarangani.
The multi-company effort highlights how private sector networks can rapidly scale disaster response, with each unit contributing based on its operational strengths.
Through the ICTSI Foundation Inc., International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) procured relief goods and coordinated with the General Santos City Social Welfare and Development Office to ensure orderly distribution using validated beneficiary lists. Bloomberry Cultural Foundation Inc. and Solaire Resort & Casino worked with local government units and security forces to establish staging areas for incoming aid.
With support from the Philippine Ports Authority, ICTSI subsidiary South Cotabato Integrated Port Services Inc. converted the Port of General Santos into a logistics hub, enabling the distribution of about 3,500 sacks of rice, grocery packs, and drinking water to nearly 3,000 families across seven barangays.
Manila Water and its affiliates deployed a 10-day emergency water mission in Sarangani, operating a mobile treatment facility and water tanker that produced and distributed more than 82,000 liters of safe drinking water, reaching over 58,000 residents in Malapatan and Glan.
Restoring electricity was also a priority, with MORE Electric and Primelectric sending about 30 linemen and technical personnel to repair damaged distribution lines while also providing food packs, bottled water, generator fuel, solar lamps, and industrial fans to affected communities.
As aftershocks continue to be felt, the Razon-led group said it remains in close coordination with local governments to support ongoing recovery efforts and help rebuild damaged communities across the region.
